Wendy has pursued her love of fabric and stitch in various ways throughout her life, achieving a BTEC (distinction) Machine Embroidery in 2010 and an FdA (Merit) Stitched Textiles in 2014. From the end of year student exhibition, she was chosen by the Society of Designer Craftsmen to exhibit her ‘Red Knot Migration’ installation in the 25th Designers Arts Exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London 2015. She has developed her skills as a textile artist employing free machine embroidery and mixed media to create unique one-off pieces of work. Her work can be representational, controlled and detailed in style, but occasionally her sense of fun creeps in, often resulting in quirky or comical cats, birds and bees.
Whilst mainly inspired by the natural world, she has concerns about a number of environmental issues, with her most recent work being developed to highlight the loss of the bees and the global plastic problem.

Lovely to see what you’ve been doing in the year or more since I last saw your work. It’s certainly changed and developed and I can see you’ve been creating some very interesting and beautiful original work. Good luck with your degree show. Looking forward to seeing the final Red Birds.
